AUSTRALIAN VITICULTURAL INVESTIGATOR V1
Future Solutions Media and the Cooperative Research Centre for Viticulture (CRCV) has released a new product called Australian Viticultural Investigator (AVi™ for short!). A software CD providing a comprehensive multimedia package containing information relevant to anyone involved in grape production in Australia and New Zealand.
AVi™ aims to assist grape growers with information including:
• Biological and taxonomic data on grape diseases and pests in Australia
and New Zealand.
• Identification via a pictorial key, and the ability to import digital images to compare against the pictorial key contained within the software, so that growers can effectively diagnose a number of common grape ailments. An image magnifyer and interrogator facility is also an added feature of the software.
• Management options and monitoring procedures for a variety of grape diseases
and pests.
• Packaging options are also available including AVi™ with the AusVit™ Chemical Database. The database is an invaluable resource that contains product registration details, actives, groups, company information, pests, hazards, mode of action, applicable winery withholding periods and maximum residue levels and notes. A new feature of the database is the addition of an organic products component.
An easy-to-use navigation system is contained within AVi™ and the software is supported by an inbuilt video tutorial with tips on how to use the program. AVi™ as a software program replaces the product BugMatch and the content has been significantly revised and updated to reflect changes in science content and in order to incorporate new technology into the product, thus providing growers with management and identification resources that are both up-to-date and relevant.
Australian Viticultural Investigator software known as AVi™ has been designed by Future Solutions Media in collaboration with the Cooperative Research Centre for Viticulture (CRCV).
AVi™ replaces BugMatch Grapes 2.0 released by the CRCV in 2001 and has been extensively re-designed and updated to reflect changes in science content and in order to incorporate new technology into the product, thus providing growers with management and identification resources that are both up-to-date and relevant.

AVi™ contains built-in video tutorials to 'show you how' to use key features.
AVi™ has a special magnifyer for 'reversing image colours' to highlight the disease and/or pest.
AVi™ chemical database upgrades are available via an online patching system and other updates and support are also available by online subscription.
As an option with AVi™, the CRCV AusVit™ Chemical Database can be purchased with the standard editon. This database contains up to date information including -
• Registration of product details
• Product, active, groups
• Chemical company information
• Pests and hazards
• Mode of action
• Winery withholding periods (if applicable).
• Maximum Residue Levels and notes.
A New feature of the Chemical Database is the addition of an organic products component that provides recommended (but not registered) organic controls for organic grape growers.
A selection of the organic management content includes:
• Pheromone ties
• Pest traps
• Soil conditions
• Botanical oils
• Compost teas
• Organic fertilizers.
